It Takes A Nation

Good friend John Mavrudis did a really terrific piece of art to celebrate Obama’s election — and it got picked up by the Nation for use as their cover this month.

1232134711-xlargeTo really appreciate all the work (and in case you were curious who all those people were who helped pave the way to this incredible moment) you should check this out — a key to every single person John depicted in the piece.  There’s people you expect to see  like Rosa Parks, Medgar Evers, and Abraham Lincoln, but there’s also some more obscure names (at least to me) like Viola Gregg Liuzzo, Wang Dan, and Mary White Ovington, which can lead to hours of really fascinating reading on Wikipedia.
