Yes folks, it’s that massively exciting time of year again when the Hell’s Belles all-girls classic car club is oh-so-proud to present the third annual Pinewood Derby! This is a fabulous all-ages event popular with speed-crazed kids and grownup gear-heads and track tarts, plus there is a terrific silent art auction featuring amazing hot-rod and tattoo-related work from a variety of all-star artists.
The Derby is Saturday, October 25, 2008, doors at 6pm, races at 8pm, at The Shooting Gallery, 839 Larkin St., San Francisco. Beats provided by DJ Bardot & Michael Charming. FREE ADMISSION to come watch the races and check out the auction. If you’ve got speed fever, you can register to buy your kit and racing number right here. You can enter either an art car (free from size and weight restrictions, go nuts!) or a race car (cannot exceed size and weight restrictions and competes with other cars!).
If you’re wondering just what the heck a Pinewood Derby is, you can check this out. The short answer is, everyone carves a car out of a block of wood and they race against each other. But as you can see from the pictures, it’s so very much more than that.
All proceeds to go the Bay Area Women & Children’s Center of San Francisco. If you would like to donate artwork, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Don’t miss this — it wont happen again for another year!
