Git Yer Superfreak On

sfcityback2

I’m so sad — this is just terrible timing because a good chunk of the Bay Area’s superheroes are bound to be down in San Diego flexing their stuff at Comic-Con.  (I know I will be and somebody thinks I’m a superhero — check out Mike Leavitt’s sculpture of me as part of his Art Army –)

I don't have little troll legs in real life. Or maybe nobody's had the heart to tell me before now...

I’ve got no idea why I’m Wonder Woman –I’ve always had a mad-on for Catwoman.  But if you happen to be in San Francisco on Saturday and want a chance to wear your Superman Underoos out in public (or just oggle other people who do), now is your moment.  The 1st Annual Superhero Street Fair is taking place Sat. July 25th, from 1pm to midnight, at Islais Creek Promenade, end of Indiana and Cesar Chavez.  Admission is donation only, but it’s half price if you’re in costume.

Ball Point Pens RULE!

Edith Abeyta asked me to do a piece for her show “Salty: Three Tales of Sorrow; Tale One: Cry Me A River.” I said sure, and then a little white hankie and a blue ball point pen arrived in the mail. How cool is that?

Frustration with the war in Iraq brings me near to tears, and I usually turn to Wonder Woman to be my anti-war mouthpiece. She’s literally draped in the American flag but I think she’d be completely disgusted by what our country has come to.

The show will be at the El Camino College Art Gallery in Torrance, CA opening November 19 and running through December 14, 2007.
