R.I.P. Eclectix

Another victim of the crap economy falls — fabulous and fun Eclectix Gallery is closing it’s doors.  Patricia Zemanek ran a great space and always hosted rollicking fun openings.  This is a sad, sad day.

They are selling everything at deep discount right now, including collectibles, vintage clothing, art books, funky do-dads, jewelry and more groovy stuff that you can shake a stick at, as well as the furniture and fixtures.  Only 344 days till Christmas people, get it in gear!

Eclectix Gallery & Store,10082 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito, CA 94530. Open Tues, Weds, Thurs, 12 – 7pm, Fri & Sat 11 – 7pm, Sunday 12 – 5pm, closed Mondays.

“Jam packed with scary, fun, demented, surreal, strangely beautiful and emotive art! The ultimate in Halloween viewing, hung salon style. With works by more than 45 artists in all mediums: dark gothic portraits, monsters, sexy vampires, skeletons, devils, surreal landscapes, Day of the Dead imagery and cute pumpkins. From our own Bay Area Newbrow art stars: gleaming, anthropomorphic robotic sculptures by Nemo Gould, a dark surprise from Annie Owens, fantastic monster cake sculptures by Scott Hove and a Franken-animal by Isabel Samaras.”

If you’re in the East Bay next weekend, make sure to stop by Eclectix Gallery on Saturday, June 20th between 6-8pm.  Not only is it the closing party for the “All Gurlz” show, not only will I be there signing books, but some folks from the Insect Discovery Lab will be there with a “hands on” display of bugs including African Millipedes, Lubber Grasshoppers, Darkling Beetles, Walking Sticks, Hissing Cockroaches and more.  (I will hopefully be encased in some kind of bug-proof plexiglass cubicle through which you can pass me bug-free books to sign.  I fucking hate giant bugs I’m not so into the “hands on” aspect of the insect world, thank-you-very-much.)

Signing, Closing Party and Horrific Bug Display:  Saturday, June 20th, 6-8pm, Eclectix Gallery & Store, 10082 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530.  Come support a local woman-run business and have some fun to boot!
