Plastic is not a 'recyclable' material like glass or metal. At best it is a 'use twice' material, the first time in those shitty plastic containers we find everywhere, and the second time as carpet underlayment or artificial wood or funky fabric, etc. Once plastic has been used a second time, it isn't recycled again, it's dumped. I've recently read that every piece of plastic ever made still exists today!
